Island Peak is also known as "Imja Tse" in Nepali Name. Island Peak is an extension of Lhotse Shar, and is located between the Lhotse and Imja glaciers, standing at 6,189m/20,300ft.

After a day of walking from Chhukung we reach the Island Peak Base Camp to prepare for to attempt the peak. It may take an additional day or two to scale the peak depending on weather conditions. You will endeavor the summit (6,189m/20,305ft) after one night at the High Camp perched on the South West Ridge where magnificent vistas of the Khumbu can be seen from the top. Acclimatization

Our Island Peak Climbing itinerary has been designed with a high degree of minimization of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). This itinerary will provide the enough days in High Mountain which is most important to attempt Island Peak and following through the view top Kalapathar & Base Camp. Going up too fast causes a medical condition serious enough to kill, your itinerary is slow and steady many days in high altitudes and then to the top of Mera Peak. The higher the altitude the less oxygen there is in the air. Waking over 4500m/14764ft in Hinku valley Himal, for example, there is 40% less oxygen than at sea level. Your body needs many days to adapt to this so for a safe trek it absolutely essential to allow for sufficient time for acclimatization and also you are trekking/camping many days over high ridge snow and mountain. Sensible planning is therefore required to minimize the risk of AMS, which Expedition to Himalaya’s Itinerary assure to prevent your risk.
We advise specially the guest(s) with known heart or lungs or blood diseases to consult their doctor before traveling. Mild headaches, fever, loss of appetite or stomach disorder are symptoms of AMS.

Leader(s) & Staff Arrangements
Expedition to Himalaya only employs and train Nepalese leaders and local staff. By employing and training local people they put something back into their communities. Our Trek Leaders obviously speak the English language but consider this is not our mother language and this enables a Expedition to Himalaya traveler to pick up and use a few of the local greetings and get first hand experience of the local culture. The guides and porters know the route direction like the back of their hand, they practice the local culture themselves and they are extremely passionate about their country and it shows.

Our operation is smooth as a safety concern; there will be one Leader, one assistance leader and one sherpa porter on each group of two. This ensure if in case one get sick, it would not disturb the itinerary, the trip still running as plan as in itinerary. And please understand that our group starts from 2 and maximum it goes up to 10 which is good team to communicate and facilitate in every manner.
